Stressed out by the thought of exams? Hypnotherapy can help

Exam season is nigh and with it the stress young (in fact any age) people feel about taking those exams. Being a bit nervous is normal and will probably even spur you on more and help you do better, but full blown anxiety attacks make it impossible to concentrate and recall anything you have spent weeks or even months memorising. Exam stress can be a major impediment to do well.

The ways in which severe exam stress can manifest

  • Feeling anxious, worried or even in despair
  • The thought that you’ll never be able to get through all the preparation needed for the exam
  • Being unable to concentrate
  • Sleeplessness
  • Inability to relax because of guilt that you’re not working
  • Headaches, migraines
  • Tiredness or exhaustion
  • Increased heart rate
  • Feeling panicky, maybe even leading to a panic attack

There are many things you can do yourself to lessen the stress that exams can cause. These include a healthy diet, getting enough sleep (all night cramming sessions are not recommended), talking through your worries with an understanding parent or friend and creating a comfortable working environment.
